How to make a sprite sheet from PNG images
Add your images
Select the PNG files for your sequence. You can also start with the six-frame sample.
Arrange the frames
Check their order and move frames where you need them. Remove any frames you do not want.
Choose your grid
Set the columns, spacing, and scale. Preview the result and choose a playback speed.
Download the result
Export your sprite sheet PNG with JSON frame coordinates and the timing you selected.
A small naming detail saves a lot of sorting.
Use a numbered sequence such as run_0.png, run_1.png, and run_2.png. Check the frame strip before exporting. Still PNG files do not contain an original animation speed, so you choose the playback rate.

Is a sprite sheet maker the same as a generator?
Here, both describe combining existing images into a sprite sheet. This tool arranges the frames you provide; it does not generate new characters or animation poses with AI.
How do I turn PNG images into a sprite sheet?
Add your PNG files, check their sequence, and choose the number of columns. The maker places the frames into a grid and exports one PNG image with a transparent background.
What happens if my frames are different sizes?
The sheet uses a consistent cell size to fit your frames. Check the preview for alignment before exporting, especially when your source images have different amounts of transparent padding.
How are the sheet dimensions calculated?
The dimensions depend on the cell size, column count, spacing, margins, and scale. For example, six 40 × 29 px frames in three columns, with no spacing or margins at 1× scale, make a 120 × 58 px sheet.
What is the JSON file for?
It records where the frames are in the sheet and their playback timing. It uses this tool’s data format, so a game engine may need its own slicing settings or an adapter to read it.
Can I use this sprite sheet maker for free?
Yes. You can combine images, preview the animation, and export without creating an account. Image processing stays in your browser.
